Rodney N. Wright
President / OwnerA former college baseball standout and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Rodney is the founder, and President of Metro Group, Inc. With experience derived from 34 years of dedicated service to his clients and employees in the maintenance services and renovation industries, Rodney oversees all facets of Metro’s business divisions. He takes an active role in reviewing performance on individual projects as well as the overall company. Positioning Metro to successfully operate in current and future financial conditions, as well as staying true to the corporate vision, meeting sales goals, and company objectives are also under his direction. In addition, Rodney enjoys assisting his clients in developing their budgets, capital needs assessments, and staffing for capital improvement projects on multi-family properties and long-term service arrangements.
Rodney holds various licenses, including his Class A Contractors License, Virginia Lead License, Virginia Asbestos License and a Lead Supervisor License. He also had his Certification in Mold Remediation and his Certification in Asbestos and Lead Abatement. When he is not at work, Rodney enjoys fishing off shore and golfing.
Kathryn M. Wright
Vice PresidentKnown to her clients, co-workers and friends as Kack, Metro Group’s Vice President leverages her extensive skills in accounting, budgeting and leadership. In her role, she negotiates and prepares contracts for capital projects. She assists Project Managers in overseeing the financial and contractual progress of the project.
Additionally, she oversees staffing, policies and procedures, developing and implementing new marketing strategies, and various day-to-day operations of the company.
Stephen J. Lomaka
Chief Finance OfficerJoining the company in August, 2012, Steve brought over 30 years of Finance and Accounting knowledge to Metro Group. Steve works closely with the President to develop and enhance our financial structure, enabling Metro Group to continue its growth. In this role, Steve oversees all financial reporting as it relates to our capital and contract projects. In addition, Steve has a tremendous amount of computer skills, which allows him to assist in the implementation of our proprietary accounting program.
Before joining Metro Group, Steve was the Vice President to LandAmerica Financial Group. In this role, he led the General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset and Revenue Accounting departments. He played a leading role in the acquisition and integration activities ranging from small to large companies. Undoubtedly this is an asset to Metro Group as we have pursued other interests within the multi-family house arena.
Steve is just as busy in his personal life as he presently is a member of the AICPA and VSCPA, and a former Board member of the Special Olympics Virginia and the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond.
John Ferrell
Senior Construction ManagerJohn joined Metro Group as a Senior Contract Specialist. He has since been promoted to Senior Construction Manager. With his strong background in renovations of highrises, John is a positive feature in our Capital Division. In previous positions, John managed different facets of renovations stemming from converting existing buildings to current codes. His background includes knowledge of boilers, domestic water pumps, elevators, sprinkler and fire pump systems, and rubber roofing (certified in 1995-98 in EPDM Installation). Additionally, his knowledge in office systems and exterior waterproofing is a strong asset to Metro Group as we continue our relationships with Capital Management Divisions.
During John’s years in the Coast Guard, he developed a very strong work ethic and built his leadership skills to put him in the position he is today. The knowledge John has brought is an incredible asset, not only to Metro Group, but also to our customers. In his free time, John enjoys his family and the beach.
Richard J. Bighinatti, CPM
Director of Business OpsAs a Capital Project Specialist for Metro Group, Richard assists the leadership team in advising our key clients on creating strategies for planning, budgeting, and implementing their capital projects. Previously, Richard enjoyed a 40-year career with a property acquisition and management company at Beacon Communities. His most recent role prior to joining our team at Metro was as Regional Vice-President where he oversaw the management of properties from Richmond, Virginia to Boston, Massachusetts. During this time, he was also responsible for a large number of capital projects for the company.
Throughout his career, Richard has belonged to a variety of local, state, and national apartment associations. Richard also is an original member of the Advisory Board of the Residential Property Management degree program at Virginia Tech. Off the job, Richard enjoys time with family and traveling.
Tracy Hallahan
Sr. Project ManagerIn his prior position with Metro, Tracy managed several property rehabs including civil and site work. After a four-year hiatus he has returned to Metro Group. While on hiatus, Tracy managed the building of several Fed Ex warehouses, gas stations, Triple AAA Cooper warehouse, and the demolition/renovation of a local restaurant. Over 40+ years of construction, his knowledge of civil, site, and property rehabs has made him a valuable asset. We are extremely pleased that Tracy made the career decision to return to Metro Group. His energetic spirit and strong leadership skills are exactly what Metro needs.
Tracy is a strong family man raising three beautiful children with his wife Diane. As a true Chicagoan, Tracy is a diehard Notre Dame, Cubs and Bears fan. Most weekends he can be found watching his son’s football, basketball or soccer games.
Jeffrey Smith
Sr. Project ManagerJeffrey, also known as Jeff, returned to Metro Group after a five-year hiatus. During his prior position with Metro, Jeff was responsible for managing distressed property renovations. During Jeff’s tenure from Metro Group, he managed the building of several storage facilities in the Richmond area. His strength in leadership and communication skills with clients, vendors, and staff is a tremendous asset to the Company. We were very excited when Jeff returned to Metro as his skills are of the utmost importance to the continual growth of the Capital Division.
Jeff, a former Texan, has resided in Richmond for several years. This has not changed the fact that he is a diehard “Cowboys fan. We love him just the same. During Jeff’s spare time, you can find him spending time with his many kids and grandchildren.
Joe Hustead
Sr. Project ManagerJoe joined Metro Group as a Construction Manager in 2013. With his background in renovations of residential communities, Joe proves to be a positive asset in our Capital Division. In previous positions, he managed different renovations stemming from renovating the entire outside of existing buildings to turning the inside of the apartments.
His background includes knowledge of pre-paint carpentry, painting, siding, apartment turnover, roofing, and windows. His knowledge in renovations of apartment communities, exterior and interior is an asset to Metro Group as we continue our relationships with Capital Management Divisions.
Clifton Stone
Service Project ManagerClifton, better known as Cliff to all our clients and co-workers, joined Metro Group in 2005. As a Carpenter, Cliff brought a wealth of knowledge to Metro Group. Over the years he has been promoted to a leadership position dealing with our clients on a day to day basis. Cliff’s mild-mannered disposition compliments the pressures of the constant deadlines in the construction world. Cliff is responsible for scheduling and implementing the Service Decisions operations. He is also responsible for estimating service and project contracts.
Cliff is known as a teddy bear in the office because of his approachable nature. As a strong Christian, he brings a positive attitude and smile to his daily routine. When not working at Metro, Cliff volunteers at Church and charitable events.
David W. Murphy
Purchasing AgentMuch to our delight, Dave returned to Metro Group joining our purchasing department. In his former position with Metro, Dave managed all paint and flooring contracts with our clients. Returning to Metro Group as a Purchasing Agent is beneficial for us in many ways. Since Dave’s departure, he worked in the Property Management division in various paint companies. His responsibilities included sales, submittals, writing specifications, and liaison between the Management Companies and his firm. As Metro Group continues its growth, Dave is a perfect fit for our purchasing department. We are excited that he returned and confident that he will continue to be a valuable component in working with architects, clients and vendors.
In Dave’s spare time, he can be found on the racquetball court or fishing on the outer banks. Dave and his wife have been married for 40 years and have a beautiful daughter.
